Doug Burr has finished recording a new full length record. It's not necessarily a follow up to 'On Promenade', but more of a project titled 'The Shawl'. The songs were recorded in Tehuacana, TX in the Texas Hall. It was built in 1860's and is in pretty bad condition, but still standing. There are some beautiful pictures of the recording session at www.myspace.com/velvetbluemusic . The lyrics for this project were taken directly from the Psalms. The tracks are stark and beautiful ala Cohen, Buckley, Cash. This will be a joint release with our friends at Spune Productions. October release ! Also hear a track from 'On Promenade' in the ABC show The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
Kissing Cousins have been busy writing songs for their new full length, yep, that's right after 4 straight ep's they are entering the studio to record a full length. The fabulous Richard Swift will produce the record. The Cousins also recently played a Radiohead
tribute show in Los Angeles. Songs in their set included 'you and whose army', i might be wrong', 'talk show host',and 'national anthem'. Maybe they'll record one of them ?
Gary Murray has a new ep titled 'Downstream Angels'. Murray has enlisted his band mates from LN to record 8 new absolutely stunning tracks. Murray's smooth and rich vocals are upfront as usual, while some of the haunted washes of sound from LN records reappear to create a mini masterpiece ! Late Sept. release. A new track can be heard at www.myspace.com/velvetbluemusic
Ronald of Orange is the newest member of the VBM family. They are from the golden state of CA and are crafting 60's-ish, extremely catchy songs. We are releasing a pop perfect 4 song ep from them in the fall. It's like Belle and Seb. meets Postal Service meets Magnetic Fields ? It's good, really good.
Hello Vinyl is the title of the new VBM compilation. We've taken a bunch of our 7" releases and made them available on cd ! There's a lot of songs on this thing ! Late Sept. release.

THE BROADWAY HUSH "moon songs" and "sun songs" 7". 2 - 7"s on colored vinyl. Twee pop at it's finest. This is the band Page France in different roles. Artwork by R. Swift.
PONY EXPRESS "becoming what you hate" - While not new it is freshly repressed. A VBM classic. Players on the record are J. Cloud (sf 59, joy electric), Josh Dooley (map), Richard Swift, Jason Martin (sf59), and Frank Lenz.

THE FOXGLOVE HUNT "stop heartbeat" - Amazing new collaboration from Ronnie Martin of Joy Electric and Rob Withem of Fine China. Electronic w/ guitars w/ great melodies.
MAP / GARY MURRAY "friends who play guitar" 7" - We still have some limited copies of this left. Map and Murray turn in their renditions of SF 59 songs.
