The Langley Sisters
The Langley Sisters are, as the name implies, 3 sisters from London who churn out beautiful roaring 20′s / 30′s type, pop show tunes ? Yes, we did just say ‘pop show tunes’. The band consists of Gita Langley, Rosie Langley, and Edie Langley who all delivery vocal harmonies, and switch off between guitar, cello, violin, banjolele, etc. Some easy reference points would be the Shangri-Las, Shirelles,The Boswell Sisters or The Andrews Sisters. It’s easy to see The Langley Sisters have taken the influences in but have put out what is something they can call their own. And to make the package complete the wonderful Mr. Ed Harcourt was brought in to record and produce the tracks. So while of course there is some novelty involved, we believe the songs themselves are what matters in the end, and these are great songs ! Do take note of the delicate and tender B. side.
The girls have done dates with Paloma Faith and Jools Holland. The fine folks at KCRW in Los Angeles were kind enough to feature them recently so hopefully we’ll get them to do some shows in the states.
We should also mention that this is the Langley’s first proper release, and what better way to do it than a limited edition 7″ (only 400 pressed, each one number stamped), on white vinyl, that includes a drop in card with download code. Perfectly classy, just like the band.
